A trip to Lodi doesn't mean leaving your dog at home. Lodi is a laid-back, small-town wine region, and a lot of it is happy to see four-legged guests. Plenty of tasting rooms let leashed dogs join you on the patio, downtown has dog-friendly spots to eat and drink outdoors, and Lodi Lake is a great place for a morning walk.
Here's how we'd plan a weekend in Lodi wine country with your pup, from where to stay to where to taste.
Where to stay with your dog
Four of our Lodi homes welcome pets, and three of them are an easy walk from downtown.
- Bordeaux Bungalow is one block from Downtown Lodi, with a spacious, quiet, fenced backyard, a covered gazebo and a front porch. It sleeps 4. As one guest put it: "We loved this house! So comfortable, and the most perfect backyard for our fur baby." (Brenda, October 2026)
- American Oak Cottage and French Oak Cottage sit side by side on a quiet street in a historic neighborhood, about a five-minute walk to downtown. Each sleeps 4 and welcomes well-trained pets, so they work well for two families traveling together.
- Port Place sleeps 6 and has a fenced private pool, a hot tub and a big covered patio out back. It's a few minutes' drive to wineries and Downtown Lodi.
Dog-friendly wineries
Many Lodi tasting rooms welcome well-behaved, leashed dogs. A few favorites with room to spread out:
- Jeremy Wine Co. has a tasting room in Downtown Lodi and a second one in Lockeford with more space for pets. Keep an eye on their social media for their Wags & Wine adoption events.
- The Dancing Fox Winery & Brewery pours wine and beer downtown. Like Jeremy Wine Co.'s downtown tasting room, it's just a few blocks from all of our downtown homes.
- Bokisch Vineyards pours Spanish varietals with vineyard views, and dogs can relax on the grass.
- m2 Wines opens its tasting room to the vineyard with big doors, so there's plenty of room for dogs to settle in.
- Prie Vineyards offers outdoor tasting under sycamore and oak trees, with a large shaded courtyard.
- d'Art Wines has picnic tables spread across landscaped grounds, reached by a short trail through redwood trees.
- Klinker Brick Winery welcomes well-behaved, leashed dogs outdoors. Its sunny south patio looks out over old vineyards toward Mount Diablo.
Policies can change, so it's always worth calling ahead, especially for a bigger group or on an event day.
Downtown patios and breweries
Downtown Lodi is easy to explore on foot with a dog, and plenty of spots have pet-friendly outdoor seating:
- Brix & Hops on School Street is a taproom and bottle shop with rotating craft beer and a good wine selection, and it's one of the most dog-friendly spots downtown.
- IDOL Beer Works on Sacramento Street pours small-batch beer on a spacious outdoor patio.
- Five Window Beer Co. has a downtown patio for a flight and a break in the shade.
- Lodi Beer Co. has food, craft beer and a large outdoor space.
- Tequileros Cantina is a good pick for tacos and dinner outside with your pup.
If you're staying at Bordeaux Bungalow or one of the Oak Cottages, you can leave the car parked and walk to the downtown spots.
Lodi Lake and dog parks
Lodi Lake Park welcomes leashed dogs on its walking paths and open lawns, and it's an easy start to the morning before a day of tasting. The Lodi Boathouse rents kayaks and paddleboards, and your dog can ride along, so pack a doggy life vest. One rule to know: dogs aren't allowed on the Lodi Lake Nature Trail in the Wilderness Area.
For off-leash play, try Vinewood Dog Park, which is free to use.
A few tips before you go
- Bring water and a collapsible bowl, especially on warm afternoons.
- Keep your dog leashed at wineries and on patios, and pack waste bags.
- Call ahead to confirm a tasting room's current pet policy.
- Plan your walks for the cooler parts of the day in summer.
